Acrylic is still the workhorse of the Nairobi nail scene, and for good reason: it takes length that gel alone struggles to hold, it files down to whatever shape you ask for, and it survives a matatu commute and a keyboard. Our artist works acrylic alongside builder gel and polygel, choosing whichever product suits your natural nail rather than defaulting to one.

A set can be built straight onto the natural nail if you have decent length to work with, or over tips if you want to jump ahead. Length is your call — short and square reads professional, extra long gives you room for real art. The price moves with length, not with how much fuss you make about the shape.

Everything happens where you already are. The kit travels: e-file, dust extraction, lamp, the lot. Most clients book acrylics on a weekday evening at home in Kilimani, Lavington or Westlands and are done before dinner, which beats sitting in a salon queue on a Saturday.
